Ahlul Bayt News Agency, Iranian education minister "Hamid Reza Hajibabaee" said the country’s Quranic schools will be operational as of September 6, a few days before the beginning of the new school year.
He predicted that the country’s Quran schools, which have been planned to promote the Quranic culture in society, will be highly welcomed.
The education minister also said that 1500 guidance schools across the country will begin their classes this year with Quran instruction.
“For third graders in elementary schools we have planned a one-month Quranic education program,” he added. During the one-month program, students will receive Quranic education every day so that they will learn reading the Quran and get familiar with its meaning.
Referring to the ministry’s other Quranic programs, Mr. Hajibabaee said that in four years time 50,000 Quranic centers will be set up by the education ministry in neighborhoods across the country so that all the residents in the neighborhoods can learn the Quran.
He noted that the ministry also plans to build 20,000 prayer rooms and 20,000 libraries in schools which lack these facilities.
Mr. Hajibabaee went on to say that based on the country’s Charter of Developing Quranic Culture, the education ministry is responsible for general Quranic education in society.
Many of the country’s officials have visited the 18th International Holy Quran Exhibition, which is underway at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla (prayer hall) until September 3.
